Student Programming with EAP

EcoAction Partners works with youth in the region to empower young voices as agents of change in their schools, homes and community at large. Our programming with students meets them where they are at in their climate activism journey and takes many shapes from partnering with schools in the region, fostering change through environmental clubs, mentoring high school students, partnering with other local organizations and more!

Ecoaction in school programming

EcoAction in Schools is a program currently designed for 3rd-5th graders to learn about climate change, greenhouse gasses, and sustainability in a hands-on engaging way  that coincides with Next Generation Science Standards. Students are engaged in interactive learning about these larger concepts in a way that is developmentally appropriate, connected to what they are learning in the classroom, and sparks critical thinking for how they envision the future of their communities.

This year the program offers a drawing contest component with the prompt “My Community in 50 years.” The idea is for students to illustrate their vision of a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future, think about how they can take care of our environment, use clean energy, and make their community a better place for everyone. Through the hands-on curriculum and drawing contest, students will create awareness about the term sustainability and how it relates to one’s own community (space and place), foster critical thinking skills, reflect on one’s own impact on others and the environment, tap into one’s creativity and feel empowered as the future leaders of our community. At the end of the contest, one winner in each grade will receive a prize and each grade will be gifted with a hand made book to document their lesson with EcoAction as well as their collective drawings and vision for the future.
